| Adoption is not an event, it is a journey. Imagine how much public perception about adoption has changed dramatically in America over the last 50 years. Our familiarity and appreciation of the potential life-long implications of adoption, institutionalization, and birth heritage has matured as well. Families are encouraged to participate in and take advantage of the increasing resources for study and research in the area of international adoption, before, during, and after a child joins their family. From the FRUA Orphanage Survey (available information regarding particular orphanages and our families' experiences) to recent research involving adopted children, there are numerous opportunities for parent education and preparation. Various adoption, medical and professional organizations bring us a wealth of information on a variety of topics. We applaud this dedication to families! Links to external Survery and Research |
