| Detsky Dom | Orphanage, usually houses children aged 3 through 7 |
| Internat | Boarding school for children from 7 to 17. |
| Oblast | A region much like a state in America |
| Kray or Krai | A region different somehow from an Oblast but much like a state in America |
| If using the term "older child" please qualify that with an age or age range. To some a 3 year old is an older child, but to others an older child is 10 or 12 years old. |
